Albufeira And Portimão Join Forces To Promote Algarve Tourism In Holland

"senior hoilday algarve promotion"The tourism associations of Portimão and Albufeira have come together to join forces in a bid to promote the most spectacular tourism features of the Algarve during a trade fair being held in Holland this week.

APAL, the association for the promotion of Albufeira and ATP, the association of tourim Portimão have both gone to the 50 Plus Beurs fair in Utrecht in Holland and will be there promoting the region for the entire week until September 21.

The aim of the joint promotion is to bring together the expertise of both associations to show all that the region has to offer for tourists coming from Holland and the rest of Europe.

The 50 Plus fair is aimed especially at tourists over the age of 50 and in 2012 it welcomed around 100,000 visitors over the week, all keen to see the more than 600 exhibitors.

Senior tourism is a growing sector and the 50 Plus fair is the largest of its kind in this specialist sector in Holland.

Albufeira and Portimão will be presenting what they have to offer to senior tourists with a stand measuring 32 square metres and the primary objective of the representatives is to promote both areas of the Algarve to senior tourists who may be considering a prolonged winter holiday in the south of Europe.

For many years the Algarve has been a popular destination with retired tourists who come to the region to enjoy the favourable winter weather when the rest of northern Europe is experiencing ling and cold winters.

On the stand there will be several members of the teams who will be working to directly promote products and services in the area with a strong focus on winter entertainment and cheap accommodation rates that are found at this time of year for long rentals and stays in hotels in the winter months.

The seasonality of the Algarve has had a very detrimental effect on the productivity of the region as a whole with high levels of unemployment and under employment experienced by many workers in the winter.

By promoting the positive aspects of the Algarve during the winter months it is hoped that seasonality will be attempted to be addressed.

the number of flights coming in and out of Faro airport during the winter months is far less than during the peak summer season however it has never been easier to travel to the Algarve and for as little as it is now thanks to many winter flights now on offer.
