Algarve Cave Boat Trips

"algarve boat trips"The Algarve coast line is one of the most beautiful in the world with a diverse range of beaches from long sandy stretches, to surfing meccas and craggy cliffs and in the central region of the Algarve on particular you can explore the coast line and the impressive cliffs by taking a cave boat trip.

Some of the most popular places to take a cave boat tour from are in Benagil and Carvoeiro, both located between Albufeira and Portimão.

Usually you do not need to book your boat trip any more than 24 hours before the day you want to go on one as these are very informal trips and run throughout the day depending on the weather – which in the summer is normally very good every day!

Most trips go out in the morning from around 10am and you will be taken by a local fisherman or tour guide directly from the beach and along the coast.

The beautiful traditional painted boats that you see on many postcards depicting the Algarve are often used for theses trips and in other cases modern boats are used but for both you will be given life jackets and safety equipment.

You do not need to be able to swim to go on a boat trip as the trip is led by the captain who will take you along the coast and then point out some of the secluded beaches and caves along the route before then taking you inside some of the most impressive caves in the area.

These caves are truly spectacular so don’t forget to take your camera with you to capture some of the images (but keep it away from the water!!)

Boats take between six and ten people on each trip and if you do not have that many people in the group you are with then don’t worry because you will be put with other people to fill the boat for the trip.

Most trips take around an hour and cost between €15 and €20 per person and all you have to do to get on one of the trips os go down to the beach in the morning and meet with the organisers of the cave boat trips who will then give you all the details.

Don’t worry if you don’t speak Portuguese as information is normally available in Portuguese, English, German and Spanish with many of the fishermen also able to speak French too.

To see the Algarve from a different perspective then book a trip on a cave boat tour for an experience you will never forget.
