Places To Visit In The Algarve – Carvoeiro

"visit-carvoeiro-algarve"When you are deciding where to visit while you are in the Algarve then you really should put Carvoeiro on your list because this pretty fishing town is packed full of great restaurants, boasts fun live entertainment during the summer and still remains a beautiful example of a whitewashed Algarve town.

Carvoeiro is located in the central region of the Algarve between Albufeira and Portimão and is easy to get to when traveling in a hire car from both sides of the region either by using the A22 Algarve toll road or by using the slower, but free, alternative of the EN125.  Just follow sign posts to Lagoa and from there you will see brown signs directing you towards the coast and to Carvoeiro itself.

This is a truly multicultural town with many residents and visitors coming from all over the world so don’t be surprised to hear English, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Indian and many other languages spoken as you walk down the street here.

The variety of nationalities means that this is a naturally very welcoming town to come to either for a holiday or a day trip and all the nationalities have also managed to make their mark in the variety of shops in the town and largely in the restaurants in and around the area.

Carvoeiro is known for having literally hundreds of restaurants in the area and many are of a very high standard but without a very high price tag.

The small sheltered beach in the centre of the town is a big draw for families of all ages with easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs and it is from here that you can take part in water sports or even go on a trip to explore the amazing caves in the local area.

In the summer months Carvoeiro is very busy with visitors but unlike other destinations across the Algarve the town does not close down for the winter months and thanks to the bustling expat community combined with the large number of local Portuguese people who live in the town there is always something to do all through the year.

Many people who visit Carvoeiro then go on to return year after year and much of this is down to the genuine warm welcome that you get in the town which is known as much for its hospitality as for its fantastic food options.

When you are in the Algarve make sure you make the time to visit this jewel of the central Algarve region and discover Carvoeiro for yourself.
